Performance Bosch VE injection pump (Stage1)
Please note, these have up to a 6 week lead time due to being made to order, volume of pumps being built and part supplies.
Upgrades:
- 12mm genuine Bosch pump head and cam plate
- Governor modification (more usable RPM before fuel lean)
- Upgraded dynamic type boost pin
- Higher pressure boost diaphragm spring
Tested on a genuine Bosch flow bench, these Injection Pumps can flow enough fuel for 250hp.
With only genuine Bosch or A Berry Engineering parts, used inside these Injection Pumps, we can calibrate the Bosch VE pump to accommodate more power, increased reliability and better driving characteristics. This is done via a few upgrades.
Pump head - A standard pump head on a Tdi is 11mm with a very relaxed cam plate (what causes the pumping motion) and is limited as to how much fuel it can supply at a give RPM. This is upgraded to a 12mm one with a more aggressive cam plate to increase the flow rate entirely throughout the rev range.
Governor modification - The standard Governor system starts to lean fuel off at around 800RPM before the governor limit (4200RPM), this means that from approximately 3400RPM the injection pump is reducing the amount of fuel supplied. With our adaptation/calibration we bring this down to 300RPM (3900-4200 lean off period). This gives the driver much more RPM to use before the engine feels to "Bog Down" as most mechanical diesels do, especially when climbing hills or pulling out of junctions.
Dynamic boost pin - All of our pumps use a conical type boost pin that is matched during calibration. These pins are more aggressive than standard but not so much as to radically increase EGT's (Exhaust gas temperatures).
Diaphragm spring - when running more air pressure (Boost) on a Tdi engine, you run in to a problem of the Injection Pump not being to regulate the fuel to suit. This is caused by the boost diaphragm spring being too weak and therefore, as soon as you start to make boost, the boost pin goes into its "Max" position causing excessive over-fuelling. We have solved this by fitting a higher rated spring that works well up to 40psi of air pressure.
